I made this map from a 24 by 42 inch piece of birch plywood, at 3/4 inch thick. The edges are burned and lacquered, and the top, main part has been sanded, burned by hand, sanded again, stained with green and blue, and carefully lacquered, both with wipe on and spray lacquer. There is picture wire attached to the back for hanging, and my artist signature and year made is on the back as well.
This entire piece took me roughly 125 hours from start to finish! It has been one of the most labor intensive pieces I’ve made to date. It is currently unclaimed and waiting for a new home.
