Dirty Smith
An avid collector of vintage blacksmithing books, I looked forward to this challenge. I kept my design simple and functional. These are forged out of .25″ thick x 3.5″ wide metal plate. Forged the material and gave it a rustic look and beveled the edges so they are easy on hands and furniture. I did not want these to move, nor did I want heavy book ends due to the material being metal. So I took material from the middle of the plate, folded it out and forged it out. The books can rest on the tab, which will also reinforce the bookends from moving, falling over or twisting out. I tried other versions of using them and they held up great. Painted with a clear lacquer finish.
