Brass and walnut snowflake

Waycoolwood

This piece is a mix of existing skills and new skills. The wooden body is a 3/8” thick piece of walnut, scroll-sawn to the snowflake shape. The new skill is the metal work of soldering 1/8” solid brass pieces to make the ends. Each end consists of three brass pieces soldered together. 1/8” holes were drilled into the ends of the walnut where the brass rods were then inserted. In the center is a glass bead friction fit and held in place with the brass rods pressing against it. Finished with a spray lacquer.
